As you age, so does your skin. You cannot change the natural ageing process; over time, everyone gets visible lines on their face and it is completely natural for your skin to lose some of its youthful fullness as you grow older.
However, there are a few things you can do to reduce premature skin ageing and keep your skin looking young and healthy.
Protect your skin from the sun
This is one of the most important things you can do for your skin. Whether you spend a lot of time outside for your job or you simply enjoy a trip to the beach, protecting your skin from the sun is extremely important. Use a sun cream that is SPF 30 or higher and water-resistant. Try to stay out of the sun during the hottest hours of the day too.
Drink less alcohol
Alcohol dehydrates the skin and, over time, it can cause damage too. Excessive alcohol consumption can make your skin look older. Cutting down how much alcohol you drink will make your skin look younger and healthier. Smoking also speeds up how quickly your skin ages and can cause wrinkles.
Remove makeup every night
Before you go to bed, you should always remove makeup and sunscreen from your skin. During the day, dirt and oil can build up on the surface of your skin; when you don’t remove this, your pores may become clogged. Failing to remove makeup each night can lead to breakouts, dullness and eyelash breakage.
Moisturise
If you want to maintain the appearance of youthful skin, moisturiser should play a big role in your daily skincare routine. Apply moisturiser every morning and night to trap water in your skin and keep it looking young. Don’t forget to moisturise your neck to keep your skin looking young and healthy too!
