Dr Vivak Shah

Principal Dentist

Dr Shah joined the practice in 2004 as a trainee and has transitioned into an associate, then a partner and most recently a principal in December 2009. He therefore understands the needs of the local community and knows most of the patients. He is a member of the GDC, BDA, Royal college of surgeons and local dental committee for Northamptonshire and is involved in education and facilitation with several university institutions. He enjoys all aspects of clinical care with a special interest in prevention, patient education implants to replace missing teeth. In addition, he has over the years developed an interest in teaching and is certified by Oxford Brooks University to teach post graduate doctors and dentists. Outside of dentistry, he has a keen sporting interest and enjoys travelling to learn different cultures.

Judith Husband

Judith joined our practice in 2017, she qualified in Liverpool and after undertaking two years postgraduate training settled in Northamptonshire. For over twenty years she has worked in general practice, committed to providing prevention based dental care to her patients. In addition to providing clinical care Judith is the Managing Director of her own consultancy company and a trustee of the Oral and Dental Research Trust. She is a keen advocate for the dental profession and patients, a past deputy Chair of the British Dental Association and current member of Northamptonshire Local Dental Committee

Karina Vara

Karina joined the practice as an associate in 2017. She has graduated from Queen Mary university of London. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is looking forward to enhancing her skills in providing the best possible patient care. She enjoys travelling to different countries and experiencing different cuisines. She loves to bake in her spare time.

Sarah Canavan

Sarah has extensive dental experience dating back to 1995 and has a master’s degree in Pain Management and a Postgraduate Certificate in Contemporary Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry. She comes from a background in special care dentistry, with unique skills particularly suited to treating medically compromised patients, children and those with anxiety.

Sarah can straighten mis-aligned teeth using the Fixed braces, Quick Straight Teeth and other aligner systems. She also enjoys creating new smiles using the composite bonding technique.
Aside from the clinical side of things, Sarah is a member of the British Dental Association (BDA) and is Chair of the Dental Associates group at the BDA. She is also Vice Chair of the Local Dental Committee (LDC).
Outside of work she enjoys going to the gym, travelling with her partner Wayne and walking their dog, Robbie.

Haaris Hussain

Dr Haaris Hussain qualified from the University of Manchester in 2018.

After qualifying, he worked at the Manchester Royal Infirmary for a year in the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery department, gaining experience in managing facial trauma and oral cancer recognition and treatment.

Since then, he has undertaken advanced training in Aesthetic and Cosmetic, enabling him to carry out aesthetic restorative procedures such as teeth straightening, white crowns and composite bonding. Haaris is also a certified Invisalign provider. He has also completed further training in Endodontics, allowing him to perform more complex root canal treatments.

With his caring and reassuring nature, Haaris takes pride in ensuring his patients are well-informed and comfortable throughout their treatment journey.

In his spare time, he enjoys an active lifestyle, attending the gym regularly, and is an avid football and boxing fan.

Andrew McSweeney

Andy qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2012, and subsequently achieved Membership of the Joint Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of England two years later. In keeping with his professional development, he has completed a yearlong PG Certification in Contemporary Restorative and Aesthetic dentistry with the Dominic Hassall Training Institute. 

He is also trained though the IAS Academy to provide simple teeth straitening.

He particularly enjoys the privilege in taking time to develop lasting relationships and trust with patients, and is passionate about treating them in a gentle and caring manner.
 
Andy is originally from Rugby! He’s a keen fair-weather golfer, burger connoisseur and has a love for history. 

Tarwinder Devgun

Tarwinder (aka) Tav, has worked at Weedon Dental Surgery over the past few years. She qualified in 2009 as a Dental Hygiene/Therapist at Birmingham University. She has a calm and caring nature and gets great satisfaction from helping her patients overcome fears and anxieties related to dentistry. Her aim is to teach and improve her patients oral heath through evidence based care. Tav is committed to give her patients a first class service whilst sustaining her ‘ Continued professional Development programme through her membership to societies. Tav is married with two children her interest include reading, travelling and keeping fit.

Shannon Lowe

Shannon grew up in Surrey where she worked as a Dental nurse for 10 years before studying at the University of Portsmouth where she achieved a 1st Class honours Degree in Dental Hygiene and Dental therapy in 2020. She lives now with her partner locally, they are currently renovating a narrow boat and plan to live on the beautiful River Nene. 

 

Shannon is passionate about oral health and empowering her patients to have the skills and confidence to lead healthy lives with healthy mouths. Not only is shannon devoted to educating her patients but also has a dream to teach Dental Hygiene Therapy students in the future.

Hanisha Patel

Hanisha, a skilled and compassionate dentist dedicated to transforming smiles and improving oral health. With a educational background, Hanisha graduated from the Medical University of Varna, Bulgaria in October 2021. Since orignally joining Saving Smiles Dental Rushden Practice in September 2022, Hanisha has become an invaluable member of the team. With training in Invisalign, Hanisha provides innovative solutions for straightening teeth discreetly. Committed to patient comfort and care, Hanisha creates a welcoming environment, ensuring that each patient feels at ease throughout their dental journey. In her spare time, Hanisha enjoys swimming and traveling.
